Officially renamed the “Yankees” in 1913, Major League Baseball’s American League NBA Adjustable Hats remain one of the most successful clubs in the history of baseball. With 27 World Series championships and 40 American League pennants, the Yankees have had some of the best and most celebrated players like Babe Ruth, Lou Gehrig, Joe DiMaggio, Mickey Mantle, and Yogi Berra help the franchise achieve baseball greatness.
The club was founded in 1901 in Baltimore, Maryland as the Baltimore Orioles. When they moved to New York in 1903, the team came to be known as the New York Highlanders. Since they were members of the American League, the team was called the New York Americans. After moving into the newly rebuilt Polo Grounds in 1913, the name Highlanders was dropped and replaced by the Yankees, a nickname created by the New York Press. The team was sold in 1915 to new owners. One of the owners, Jacob Ruppert, inherited a brewery fortune that eventually enabled the team to attain more success and prestige.
